Yay! We're Back!!!

Approximately five years ago, I launched an experiment.  My thinking was something like this:

"What if I were to archive and share my extensive collection of crap in the form of an online museum, and what if I featured a new addition to said museum-of-crap each week?"

Since my propensity for the acquisition of crap tended towards the genre of toys, I answered the above question with a weekly feature called "The Toy of the Week."  Well, I managed to conduct this experiment for nearly a year.  The first feature highlighted a toy from Japan that depicted a cattle mutilation scene inflicted by extraterrestrials.  I expounded on the merits of toys like this, week after week, even though I often felt like I was simply launching my musings into the abyssal trench of the internet, never to be seen again by human eyes.  Despite this feeling, I think my experiment gained some momentum and actually resonated with a few genuine human people.

Fast forward to today.  That momentum always had me saying, "I should really re-launch my toy blog."  Seeing as my crap acquisition has neither stopped, nor slowed, I am pleased to announce that The Toy of the Week is back, and this time it is bigger, better, and bloggier than ever!

I have lots of huge plans in store, and conveniently less time than ever to execute these plans, but The Toy of the Week always was, and always will be, a labor of love.  If I can convey even the smallest essence of my passion for this subject matter, then this project will be successful... or something like that.

You can expect to see toys and collectible objects featured here from just about any genre you can imagine.  Sure, I have biases towards certain categories, like Japanese robots, and anything from the movie Aliens, but The Toy of the Week was always meant to transcend categorization.  Therefore we will give equal status to a rare Star Wars collectible, a vintage steam engine, or a Fischer Price Baby's toy if they have an interesting story behind them.

To get the ball rolling on this deal, let me do some splainin' on some format changes from the old blog.  You will now see all our updates, right here, at www.TheToyoftheWeek.com.  We will highlight a toy from our collection every week, and every month a "feature toy" will be added to the gallery which you can see here.  We will announce updates on our Facebook page and on Twitter so please like and follow us.  Thems the basics.  It is my goal to toss in additional content as well that I think you all will love, but I have to keep a few surprises for later, so I'll update on that in the future.

So, BOOM, there you have it.  The triumphant return of The Toy of the Week.  Our first feature toy will go up, right here, in just nine short days, on July first.  The countdown is on...
